SplitProduct privacy policy
Last updated 7 October 2026
SplitProduct (“the app”, “we”) helps Shopify merchants show product variants, such as each color or size, as separate product cards on their online store. This policy explains what information the app collects when a merchant installs it, how we use it, and how it is deleted.
Information we collect
When a merchant installs the app, Shopify gives us access to the store's data through its API, limited to the permissions the merchant approves: managing products and collections, publishing collections the app creates, and the app proxy. We store:
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| The store's Shopify domain and an access token issued by Shopify | To connect to the store and apply the merchant's settings |
| Display settings: which options to split by, title format and display rules | To show variants on the storefront the way the merchant chose |
| Collection settings: collection IDs and titles, whether splitting is on, card order, hidden cards and selected variant IDs | To split, order and filter variant cards per collection |
| Card customizations: product IDs and handles, custom card titles and chosen hover image URLs | To show the merchant's custom titles and images |
| The name of the store's active plan | To apply the plan's collection limit |
We do not collect or store personal information about the store's customers, such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, orders or payment details. The app does not use the Shopify customer or order APIs.
Information processed but not stored
- Storefront requests. When a shopper views a collection, search results or the homepage, the app's storefront script asks the app for the store's settings, sending the collection ID and the handles of the products on the page. We use this only to answer the request and do not store it.
- Shopper's browser. The storefront script reads public product information from the store and keeps it, with the store's settings, in the browser's session storage for a few minutes so pages load faster. It contains no personal information, is not sent to us, and is cleared when the browser tab closes. The app sets no cookies.
How we use information
Only to provide the app's features to the merchant who installed it. We do not sell, rent or share information with third parties for marketing, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Sharing and service providers
- Shopify, which hosts the store and handles app billing.
- Our hosting provider (DigitalOcean), where the app and its database run on servers we control.
We may disclose information if required by law.
Billing
Plans are billed by Shopify on the merchant's Shopify invoice. We never see or store payment details; we only read which plan is active.
Retention and deletion
- When the merchant uninstalls the app, we delete the store's access token immediately.
- 48 hours after uninstalling, Shopify sends a request to erase the store's data, and we delete all of its settings, collection settings and card customizations.
- Because we store no customer data, customer data and erasure requests from Shopify have nothing to return or delete; we answer them all the same.
Security
Data is sent over HTTPS. The database is only reachable from the app's servers, and access to the servers is restricted to us.
Your rights
Merchants can ask us to access, correct or delete their store's data at any time by contacting the support email on our Shopify App Store listing. Shoppers should contact the store they bought from; we hold no information about them.
Changes
We will update this page if the app's data practices change, and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
